5-year-old girl sexually abused by 10th grade student, school sealed

Bhopal: A five-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a Class X student at a private school in Ratlam district headquarters in Madhya Pradesh.

The accused, son of the school security guard, was arrested in connection with the incident, police said on Monday.

“The boy was arrested under Sections 65-ii (Whoever commits rape of a woman below 12 years of age) and 75 (Physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual advances) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). ) accused of Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO), Ratlam District Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rakesh Khakha said.

The alleged victim, a student at the school’s UKG (Upper Kindergarten), reported to her mother about “bad touching” by the boy on the night of September 27, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred in the security room on the third floor of the school, where there was no video surveillance.

Monday’s incident sparked public outrage as students’ parents, among others, staged loud demonstrations at the school.

The angry people demanded from the principal and management to know why proper security measures were not taken in the school which led to such a shocking incident.

Police rushed to the spot and escorted school staff, including the principal, to safety through the back gate.

The local administration sealed off the school on Monday.

“People were angry about the incident. They called for the school to be closed until adequate safety precautions were in place. “We have sealed the school and it will not function until proper security arrangements are put in place,” said Dr. Shalini Srivastav, Additional District Magistrate, Ratlam District.
