Former Aurora police officer pleads guilty to assaulting disabled woman while off-duty

A former Aurora police officer pleaded guilty Friday to reckless endangerment after he was accused of attacking a disabled woman while off duty.

Douglas Harroun, 34, pleaded guilty to a single misdemeanor charge in the January 2023 incident, and charges of assault and attempted interfering with a public servant were dismissed as part of the plea agreement, court records show.

A separate criminal case against Harroun over a police shooting in December 2022 is still pending and is scheduled to be heard by a jury in November.

Harroun was arrested in the off-duty assault case after witnesses said he punched a woman in the head and face multiple times on Jan. 11, 2023, at an apartment complex in the 15000 block of East Briarwood Circle in Aurora.
