The Clay County coroner is releasing the name of the person who died in a car crash Friday

Illinois State Police Troop 9 responded to a motor vehicle accident just after 12 p.m. Friday on US Rt. 50, a quarter mile west of the Xenia/Iola intersection, involving two cars and a tractor-trailer. Clay County Coroner Bryce Henry says 59-year-old Mia Daniels of Monticello, Arkansas was pronounced dead at the scene. Henry says Daniels was traveling westbound when she was struck almost head-on by an eastbound car that was trying to pass a tractor-trailer. An autopsy was planned to assist in the investigation as numerous Clay County emergency responders were on scene. The Illinois State Police are continuing their investigation into the fatal accident.
