Financier arrested for stabbing milk seller

A 52-year-old milk seller was allegedly stabbed to death by his neighbor over a petty dispute during the Pitru Paksha ceremony at his brother’s house in Sonnenahalli under Jnanabharathi police station limits on Sunday. Pitru Paksha is observed to pay homage to one’s ancestors, particularly through food offerings.

The deceased was identified as Murthy, a resident of Sonnenahalli who was into cow breeding and selling milk.

Police have arrested Kirthi Manjunath, 27, a financier and Murthy’s neighbor. According to police, Murthy accidentally stepped on Kirthi’s feet, which led to a heated argument that turned into an ugly argument and ended in murder.

According to police, Murthy and his relatives were drinking at his brother’s house along with neighbors including Kirthi. When Murthy stepped on Kirthi’s feet, Kirthi stabbed Murthy with a knife and fled the scene.

Seriously injured, Murthy was taken to the hospital where he succumbed. Based on the complaint, the police tracked down Kirthi and arrested him. The duo had a financial dispute and the accused had carried a knife to scare him, police added.
