Half of a tech company’s HR department is fired after rejecting a resume; Here’s what happened

A recent post on Reddit went viral in which a manager revealed that half of his company’s human resources department was fired after his own resume was mistakenly rejected by the company’s flawed automated recruiting system.

Here’s what happened

In his position, the manager working as technical director was looking for a single reinforcement for his team. However, he hasn’t been able to find a single person for the job for three months. To identify the problem, he then created a new email and sent them an altered version of my resume with a fake name to see what was going on with the process and to his surprise it was automatically rejected.

In his post, the technical director expressed his frustration and wrote: “HR didn’t even look at my resume. I presented this to management and they laid off half of HR in the following weeks. The problem was that they were looking for an AngularJS developer while we were looking for an Angular developer (different frameworks, similar names).

He further added, “These kinds of stupid mistakes must and can be fixed in minutes, and since the resumes were auto-rejecting profiles without AngularJS, we literally lost all possible candidates.”

He also highlighted that when he contacted HR for recruitment updates, he was told “that there were some candidates who had failed the initial selection processes (which was incorrect).” “Guys, “The people who work in HR are incredibly mediocre and lazy,” the manager said.

Reddit users commented on the post and also shared their thoughts and experiences related to HR practices in recruiting.

One user asked, “Then what do they do all day?” If the entire process is simply automated without human supervision.”

Another user shared their similar experience and said, “First year of college, my roommate applied for an internship. He received a rejection email 20 seconds before he received the application email lol.”

Another user added: “Are you getting answers?”

“This happened to me when I applied for a job at a hardware store, but they had the courtesy to wait four minutes,” one user said.

“The day after I submitted an application for a local company, I received a rejection at around 1am. I don’t know how they do it lol,” another user shared.

A mother of one said: “This is extremely sad and disheartening. My son also received a lot of auto-rejections and I couldn’t understand why. Now I know. In fact, HR is lazy!”
