Funeral details revealed for the teenager and young man who died in the tragic crash in Mayo

The mother of one of the two young men who died in a tragic accident in Co Mayo on Friday evening has paid a heartbreaking tribute as funeral details were announced.

19-year-old Harry Fagan and 13-year-old James Daniels died when their car collided with a tractor pulling a trailer in Co Mayo, near the Galway-Roscommon border.

The accident occurred in the townland of Levallyroe, on a section of the N83 between Cloonfad and Ballyhaunis, just after 8pm on Friday 27 September 2024.

James’ mother Karen Cunniffe wrote on Facebook on Saturday to pay tribute to her son: “Our sweet baby James left us for an adventure beyond our imagination.” “Our love for you is infinite, James.”

Mr Fagan’s younger brother, who was a close friend of the 13-year-old and is believed to be 15, was a passenger in the car and remains in hospital in a “very serious” condition.

The driver of the tractor, a man in his 50s, was also taken to Mayo University Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The boys were on their way to a soccer game when the tragedy occurred. The Irish Mail On Sunday reported that members of their families were about 250 meters from the scene of the accident.

James will be buried at PJ Keane Funeral Home in Cloonfad on Monday evening, September 30th from 5pm to 7pm.

The teenager’s funeral mass will take place at St Patrick’s Church, Cloonfad, at 12pm on Tuesday, October 1, followed by cremation at Shannon Crematorium at 4pm.

His obituary reads: “The death of James Daniels, Swinefield, Cloonfad, Ballyhaunis, Co. Roscommon – September 27, 2024, tragically following an accident. “He was predeceased by his beloved Grandad Paddy.

“Treasured son of Karen and Chris and beloved brother of Zachary.” James is survived by his heartbroken parents, his brother, grandparents Peggy, Paul and Melanie, his aunts, uncles, his cousins ​​Oliver, Lily, Saoirse, Róisin, Laura , Emily, Daniel, Michael and Patrick and his many friends will be sorely missed.”

Mr. Fagan will rest at his home on Tuesday evening, October 1, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The young man’s funeral mass will be held at St Patrick’s Church in Cloonfad on Wednesday October 2nd at 12pm, followed by his burial in Cloonfad Cemetery.

“Harry will be sorely missed by his heartbroken parents Ger and Trish, brothers Gerard, Shane, Daniel and Dermot, grandparents Kathleen, Tom and Marion, his girlfriend Kate, his aunts, uncles, cousins ​​and a wide circle of friends,” it said read it in his obituary RIP.ie.
