K-9 officer found dead after going missing following historic flooding, officials say

ERWIN, Tenn. (WVLT/Gray News) – A K-9 officer in Tennessee has been found dead after he went missing following historic flooding, according to officials.

The Erwin Police Department said K-9 Scotty went missing during Friday’s flooding.

“Scotty has been missing since yesterday’s flooding in the Bumpass Cove area. “He has a callus on his right front elbow that appears to be a sore,” the department said.

On Saturday, the department said he was later found dead, WVLT reported.

“Please pray for his caregiver and all who loved him,” EPD said.

The flooding also led to more than 50 people being rescued from a hospital roof after becoming trapped on Friday.
