The business break-in in Novato turns into a police chase

There was a break-in in Novato on Saturday morning

A 26-year-old man was arrested early Saturday morning in Novato for his alleged involvement in a plan to ram a vehicle into a storefront in an attempt to break into the business.

Oakland resident Jeremy Fong was taken into custody by California Highway Patrol officers following a chase. The vehicle he was driving was allegedly stolen in Oakland.

Novato police said in a news release that five people with two vehicles were involved in the 3 a.m. burglary that resulted in extensive damage to the Diablo Avenue store.

There was a break-in in Novato on Saturday morning

Responding police officers pursued the two vehicles southbound on US Highway 101, but discontinued the pursuit due to the unsafe speed.

After an alert was sent out about the vehicles, one of them, allegedly driven by Fong, was found by CHP officers in San Rafael.

CHP pursued the vehicle on Interstate Highway 580 until Fong crashed in Richmond, police said.

According to Novato police, Fong was booked into the Marin County Jail on multiple charges after being taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation.
