Tennessee Titans vs. Miami Dolphins prediction, tip and odds for MNF (September 30th)

  • Miami is a 2.5-point favorite in the Titans vs. Dolphins odds for Monday Night Football
  • Tyler Huntley will be Miami’s third quarterback to start a game this season
  • Read below for the Titans vs Dolphins prediction, picks and betting line

The first of two Monday Night Football games in Week 4 begins at 7:30 p.m. ET when Miami (1-2) faces Tennessee (0-3). No team has snatched more defeats from the jaws of victory this season than the Titans, and quarterback Will Levis is almost entirely to blame.

Levis is the NFL’s lowest-rated starting quarterback after Bryce Young was benched, and online sportsbooks aren’t optimistic he’ll turn things around any time soon. They have the Dolphins as favorites in the latest NFL odds, and bettors seem to agree.

Tennessee Titans vs Miami Dolphins odds

teams Spread Money line In total
Tennessee Titans +2.5 (-108) +114 O 37 (-110)
Miami Dolphins -2.5 (-112) -135 U37 (-110)

Miami is currently the favorite by 2.5 points in a game with a total of 37 players. This spread fluctuated between -1 and -1.5 most of the week, but was increased by a full point when the Dolphins officially named their starting QB (more on that later).

Levis may not last much longer

Back to Levis, and it’s safe to say he’s skating on thin ice. He single-handedly dropped Tennessee’s Week 1 road game against Chicago, and he doubled his output with a similar performance against the Jets in Week 2. Last week’s stunning loss to the Packers didn’t fall solely on his shoulders, but a pick-six, and eight sacks and three turnovers didn’t help.

Levis has now started 11 NFL games, and the results aren’t exactly pretty. He is 3-8 overall, with nine interceptions and nine fumbles. The Kentucky product has been sacked 43 times and is ahead of only Deshaun Watson in expected additional points per dropback among starting QBs since 2022.

If there’s one reason to be optimistic about Levis in this matchup, it’s that he’s had success in Miami in the past. His only 300-yard passing game came last year when he led the Titans to a shocking victory by 13.5 points.

Levis looked nothing like the QB that pulled off the upset this year, and new head coach Brian Callahan’s patience is wearing thin. He has been very critical of Levis in the media, and with Mason Rudolph waiting in the wings, it might not be long before Callahan makes a move.

Huntley is next man in line

The Dolphins, meanwhile, have quarterback problems of their own. Tua Tagovailoa is out with a concussion and Skylar Thompson is out with a rib injury. Last week, Thompson got the call in Seattle, and it was hard to watch. He averaged just 5.6 yards on his 13 attempts and was unable to force the ball downfield. This neutered Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle’s ceiling, as the duo combined for just 67 yards in a lopsided loss to the Seahawks.

Enter Tyler Huntley. The former Pro Bowl QB has nine career starts in which he threw for 1,957 yards and 8 TDs while rushing for 503 yards and three scores. His dual-threat ability keeps defenses honest, and unlike Thompson, Huntley has the arm strength to throw deep.

Green Bay laid out the plan to expose the Tennessee defense last week, and Mike McDaniel will likely propose a similar plan. The Packers managed 188 rushing yards, an average of 5.1 yards per attempt. They used their running backs and their QBs’ legs to destroy the Titans, and when the linebackers crawled up, they used crossing routes behind them to distract the play.

Titans vs Dolphins Prediction

With a skill group of Hill, Waddle and De’Von Achane, the Dolphins have more deep threats than anyone else in the league. That’s what made them a legitimate preseason Super Bowl 59 contender, and bettors should have faith that Huntley can get Miami’s playmakers the ball and help turn their season around.

It also doesn’t hurt that Tennessee is dealing with some significant injuries. Stud defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons is out, as is veteran cornerback Chidobe Awuzie. Shutdown corner L’Jarius Sneed is questionable with a hamstring injury, but even if he plays he’ll be lucky to keep up with the Dolphins’ one-legged speedsters.

Will Levis against the spread

Begins ATS data set favorite outsider
11 3-8 1-2 2-6

However, the most important reason to bet on Miami (or against the Titans) is the Levis factor. He is a walking turnover machine and has been abysmal at spread. Levis has made just three of his 11 starts and is a lifetime underdog at 2-6 ATS.
