In North Carolina, county and state officials have confirmed 36 fatalities, while 25 people have lost their lives in South Carolina, including two firefighters in Saluda County. In Georgia, a spokesman for Gov. Brian Kemp reported at least 17 deaths, with two victims losing their lives in a tornado in the Alamo.

At least 11 people have died in Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Saturday, including several people who drowned in Pinellas County. Two people died in Virginia, officials said Sunday, and two deaths were reported in Tennessee, CNN reported.

Buncombe County, North Carolina, has received about 600 missing person reports through an online form, County Manager Avril Pinder said Sunday.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has assured that his administration is coordinating with state and local officials to provide necessary support and resources to communities affected by Hurricane Helene.

Biden shared a post on “As we continue to support relief and recovery efforts, we will ensure no resources are spared to ensure communities can begin rebuilding quickly.”

He added, “Jill and I pray for those who lost loved ones to Hurricane Helene and for those whose homes, businesses and communities were affected by this terrible storm.”
