1 wounded, child injured by bullet in Sunday shooting

One person was injured and a child was grazed by a bullet in Bay Point on Sunday as Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputies investigated a shooting.

According to primary information, the shooting occurred at 5:50 pm at Desanie Cir in which one person was hit in the lower leg and a baby/child was grazed in the head by gunfire. Both were transported to Bay Area hospitals.

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and AMR responded to treat and transport both victims to Bay Area hospitals. No further information regarding this condition has been released.

  • At 6:03 p.m., the sheriff’s office reported that two men were last seen walking in an open field on Gregory Drive.
  • At 6:06 p.m., sheriff’s deputies located the suspects walking along the railroad tracks.
  • At 6:10 p.m., the sheriff’s office confirmed they spotted the suspects in the bushes behind Gregory Drive. One of the suspect vehicles was located outside the city of Concord.
  • At 6:21 p.m., at least one suspect came out of hiding and is in custody. Both followed the deputies’ orders. A short time later, both suspects were in custody. However, officers were still looking for possible additional suspects.
  • Several cartridge cases were located by the emergency services on site.
  • At 6:39 p.m., officers were notified that at least six people had escaped into the mobile home park at Port Chicago Highway and Pacifica.
  • 6:50 p.m. – The suspects were described as three Hispanic male juveniles running through the mobile home park.
  • 6:55 p.m. – A home reported a bullet hole in its refrigerator on Desanie Cir
  • At 7:07 p.m., officers confirmed that a “small child” had been struck by gunfire.

Pittsburg police assisted Bay Point sheriff’s deputies with the shooting.
