According to ESPN’s Michael DiRocco, two women have filed a lawsuit against former Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Brandon McManus, accusing him of sexually assaulting them on the team’s flight to a game in London last year.

The two women, who were not named, filed the lawsuit Friday evening in Duval County Circuit Civil Court. They are seeking more than $1 million in damages.

The women worked as flight attendants on the Jaguars’ charter flight to London in September 2023 before their game against the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley Stadium. The flight, the women claimed, “quickly turned into a party.”

According to the report, McManus and other players disregarded flight attendants’ privacy, airline safety and federal law, and McManus allegedly recruited other flight attendants to the party and handed out $100 bills to get them to drink and dance for him.

The first woman said McManus tried to kiss her while she was sitting during the turbulence, according to the lawsuit. He also allegedly got in her way twice while she was serving food and drinks. The second woman said McManus also bumped into her during one of the flight’s food runs. She said she confronted McManus about it, but he “grinned and walked away.” The second woman said she stayed on the second level of the plane to avoid him on the team’s flight back to Jacksonville after the game.

The two women also included the Jaguars in their lawsuit for allegedly failing to supervise McManus and provide a safe environment for staff on the plane. According to the report, the charter flight was the first that the two women had worked for the team and they said they experienced “severe mental anguish, anxiety, psychological and emotional distress, embarrassment and humiliation.”

McManus denied the allegations against him in a statement issued by his lawyer on Monday evening.

“To be clear, these are completely fabricated and demonstrably false allegations made as part of a campaign to defame and disparage a talented and respected NFL player,” McManus’ attorney Brett R. Gallaway said in a statement. “We intend to aggressively defend Brandon’s rights and integrity and clear his name by showing what these allegations truly are – an extortion attempt.”

McManus began his career with the Denver Broncos, where he spent the first nine years of his career. He made 30 of 37 field goals and hit all of his extra points with the Jaguars last season. Jacksonville did not re-sign McManus this offseason, but he has since signed a one-year, $3.6 million contract with the Washington Commanders.

“Today we were made aware of the civil lawsuit filed against Brandon McManus on May 24,” the commanders said in a statement. “We take allegations of this nature very seriously and are investigating the matter. We are in contact with the league office and Brandon’s representative and reserve further comment at this time.”

The Jaguars also released a similar statement on Monday evening.

“We are aware of the complaint and recognize the importance of the claims,” the team said in a statement. “As we continue to address the matter, it must be emphasized that we insist on an organization built by people who represent our community and perform with the highest character and class.”
