Woman dead after fleeing police, toddler in critical condition

LAYTON – A woman is dead and a 3-year-old boy is in critical condition after the woman fled from police and crashed Sunday.

A Utah Highway Patrol trooper said police are trying to locate a Dodge Caravan. When they found the car, it was driving off on I-15.

The woman then attempted to exit the highway at Antelope Drive in Layton, but overturned due to the high speed, police said.

Both the woman and the three-year-old were thrown out. The woman died at the scene and the child was flown to hospital.

The identity of the woman and child have not been released.
