An interesting backstage update has surfaced that the final episode of WWE NXT on the USA Network was almost pulled off the air.

Last Tuesday’s (September 24) episode of NXT was the last the company aired in the US, with the gold brand’s shows airing on the CW starting October 1.

In the final moments of the show, NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez faced her upcoming challenger Giulia. The duo was interrupted by Stephanie Vaquer, who made her first NXT TV appearance “via satellite.”

A new report has revealed that the show has almost been taken off the air.

According to Fightful Select, the series’ long overrun almost resulted in the episode being pulled from the air by USA Network. According to the report, the show ended with just a few seconds left.

Fightful also noted that the show was referred to internally as “Goodbye USA.”

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez will defend her gold against Giulia on Tuesday’s (October 1) CW premiere episode.

Shawn Michaels has announced “big surprises” for both the NXT men’s and women’s divisions, which you can read more about here.
