According to police, a 30-year-old man was shot and killed in Antioch on Sunday morning

On Sunday, Antioch Police responded to a report of a shooting that injured a 30-year-old man in the city of Antioch.

Antioch police officers are investigating an early morning shooting that sent a man to the hospital, according to police. On September 29, at approximately 4:01 a.m., Antioch police officers responded to a report of a man who had just been shot in the 2300 block of Huntsman Way. Upon arrival, officers found a victim in the front yard of a home suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Firefighters and paramedics rendered aid and the victim was transported to a local hospital. The victim is currently in critical but stable condition.

  • Friday, September 20th, 12:27 p.m (Cavallo Road at Sunset Drive) – Report 24-8467. An 18-year-old man was shot. A separate press release was sent by APD on 9/20/24.
  • Sunday, September 22nd, 5:27 a.m (Carpinteria Drive) – Report 24-8523. Self-inflicted gunshot wound. The man’s condition is currently stable.
  • Sunday, September 22nd, 9:21 a.m (20 E. 18th Street) – Report 24-8527. At least eight shots fired. A man was shot and is currently in critical condition. A woman was also shot and has since been treated at a local hospital and released.

The Antioch Police Department is asking for the community’s help in connection with a series of shootings that have struck our city over the last week.

“This wave of violence will not be tolerated. “We have reshuffled staffing and assigned two officers to patrol the Sycamore Corridor for at least the next seven days,” said Interim Police Chief Brian Addington. “These efforts are aimed at reducing gun violence and providing a sense of security to the community and local businesses.”

On September 2nd, 21 years old Elijah Scales was shot in the 2100 block of Peppertree Way. Since the murder, Antioch police have responded to nearly a dozen shootings that may be related. Eight of the shootings occurred in the last five days. Details of each shoot are listed below.

    • Tuesday, September 3rd, 7:26 p.m (2100 block of Peppertree Way) – Report 24-7865. At least 32 bullets were fired from several firearms. A 31-year-old man was shot in the leg.
    • Wednesday, September 4th, 8:59 p.m (2100 block of Peppertree Way) – Report 24-7898. 11 bullets were fired from multiple weapons. The shots hit a nearby building.
    • Saturday, September 7th, 9:31 p.m (Sycamore Drive at Peppertree Way) – Report 24-7991. 29 bullets fired from multiple firearms. A 52-year-old woman was shot in the leg in the Sycamore Square parking lot.
    • Thursday, September 12th, 8:21 p.m (2100 block of Lemontree Way) – Reports 24-8193 and 24-8194. At least 26 bullets were fired. The shots hit two surrounding houses. A resident was struck by a stray bullet and suffered a minor injury to the neck that did not require medical treatment.
    • Thursday, September 12th, 8:31 p.m., (1000 block of Fitzuren Road) – Report 24-8195. At least three shots were fired. The shots hit a nearby business.
    • Thursday, September 12th, 8:32 p.m(2900 block of Pear Street) – Report 24-8197. At least three shots were fired
    • Sunday, September 15th, 9:10 p.m(Sycamore Drive at Peppertree Way) – Report 24-8309. At least 13 bullets were fired. A nearby home and an unoccupied vehicle were struck by gunfire.
    • Monday, September 16th, 2:40 a.m (600 block of G Street) – Report 24-8316. Multiple firearms fired at least 12 bullets
    • Monday, September 16th, 4:54 p.m (Contra Costa County Fairgrounds) – Report 24-8353. Several firearms fired at least 30 bullets. A man was shot dead on the exhibition grounds. The man is currently in critical condition. The fairgrounds falls under the jurisdiction of Contra Costa County, so the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this matter.
    • Monday, September 16th, 7:46 p.m., (L Street at William Reed) – Report 24-8356. Several firearms fired 50 or more bullets. Two nearby businesses were hit
    • Monday, September 16th, 7:48 p.m(1800 block of Cavallo Road) – Report 24-8357. At least four shots were fired. A 58-year-old man was shot while attending a memorial service for Elijah Scales at this location. The man is currently in critical condition at a local hospital.
