Investigation into a report of sexual assault at a motel in Malta leads to an arrest

A man was arrested Saturday after the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office reportedly received a report of an inactive sexual assault that occurred over several days at a motel in Malta.

According to a news release, the call came in around 5:28 p.m. and led officers to the Grand Prix Motel.

Dillon M. Buono, 22, was charged with intentionally attempting to inflict serious bodily injury on another person using a deadly weapon or “dangerous instrument.” Authorities said he also violated a protective order. In addition, a spokesman said Buono was accused of applying pressure to a person’s throat or neck, causing unconsciousness, and restraining another person under circumstances that placed them at risk of serious injury.

A child was also reportedly present during the incident.

According to the sheriff’s office, Buono was arraigned in Malta Municipal Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail pending further proceedings.

He was charged with attempted first-degree assault, second-degree assault, second-degree strangulation, first-degree criminal contempt, aggravated family delinquency, first-degree unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child.
