Sean “Diddy” Combs

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ extensive music catalog has seen a surge in streams since his arrest last week and the dismissal of charges against him.

Among his many musical nicknames – including Diddy, Puff Daddy and P. Diddy – industry data and analytics firm Luminate said the mogul’s music saw an average increase of 18% in on-demand streams the week of his arrest compared to the previous week .3% recorded.

George Howard, a distinguished professor of music business at Berklee College of Music, said he was not surprised by the increase.

For him, streaming is similar to a Google search for the artist to satisfy his curiosity.

“Music becomes another piece of information as people try to understand the atrocities,” Howard told The Associated Press.

“It’s like, ‘How would someone whose brain works like that supposedly sound like their music?'” With Combs’ various business ventures — from Revolt TV to Ciroc vodka, both of which he is no longer affiliated with — Howard told Many People are likely to think of Combs as a businessman before they think of him as a musician.
