West Town accident leads to fatal shooting, Chicago police say – NBC Chicago

A man was killed in a traffic accident in the West Town area Sunday morning, Chicago police said.

According to authorities, an accident occurred around 2 a.m. in the 1500 block of North Magnolia. The driver of one of the vehicles got out to assess the damage and a person in a red vehicle opened fire, hitting him in the chest.

The suspect fled the scene and the victim was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

There are no suspects in custody and Area Five investigators are investigating.
