Apple will no longer show its films in cinemas and refuses to finance expensive projects for Apple TV+

Apple launched its Apple TV+ video service at the end of 2019 and has recently started showing self-produced films in cinemas. However, this strategy appears to have been unsuccessful.

We know that

According to Bloomberg, Apple will stop showing its films on big screens after several box office failures and will release them directly on Apple TV+. This is due to the disappointing box office results of major projects such as Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon”, “Napoleon”, “Argylle” and “Fly Me to the Moon”.

For this reason, the new film “Wolfs,” starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, was released in thousands of theaters worldwide and premiered in a limited number of theaters. And from September 27th, the film is already available on Apple TV+.

However, Apple will still show some big films in cinemas – for example, the film “Formula One” with Brad Pitt will be in cinemas in June. He plays a former F1 driver who returns to work to train an aspiring racing star.

Apple had previously planned to spend $1 billion a year on movies. The company has not changed this commitment, except that the money will now be spent not on a few expensive pictures, but on 10-12 cheaper films. At the same time, Apple continues to aim to implement one or two large projects per year.
