Tragic deaths in Pune: Four workers are killed when a load of glass falls on them, one is injured

In a tragic incident, four workers were killed and one seriously injured on Sunday when a consignment of glass fell on them while they were unloading it from a vehicle at a glass factory in Pune district of Maharashtra.

The incident took place around 1.30 pm at the glass factory in Yevlewadi in Pune’s Katraj area, officials said.

“First, we received a call that five to six workers were trapped while unloading glass stocks at a glass manufacturing plant in Katraj area. A team of firefighters reached the spot,” a fire department official said.

“The fire department pulled out five injured workers and took them to a nearby hospital. However, four of them died while one was treated in hospital,” he added.

After receiving information about the incident, the police reached the scene.

An investigation into the incident has been ordered.

In another incident, four people, including two minors, were arrested on charges of raping a 16-year-old girl from a city college in Pune.

“All the accused, who did not know each other, had met the girl separately on social media platforms and had allegedly had sexual relations with the girl at different places between April and September,” said DCP Zone 2 Smarthna Patil, who is also investigating the case .

Police have charged her with rape and violating the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and sections of the Information Technology Act.

The incident came to light during a session on sexual offenses against the children when a student of the same college who looked a little depressed and when taken into confidence told the counselors about her victim friend and said some bad things were happening with her friend.

“Investigations later revealed that the victim had met four suspects who were unknown to each other on social media platforms and was allegedly raped on different occasions,” the police officer said.
