Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Problems Mount as Sexual Assault Claims Rise: From Arrest to Charge, Here’s What We Know

Sexual harassment and rape allegations against Sean “Diddy” Combs continued to mount this week, with a 12th accuser coming forward on Friday. The music mogul was arrested on September 16 and remains jailed without bail as federal authorities accuse him of running a vast network that facilitated sex crimes and committed shocking acts of violence.

What do the lawsuits say?
A new lawsuit was filed this week against the Grammy-winning artist for “drugging, raping and intimidating” a former model for several years. The lawsuit describes a disturbing pattern of behavior and alleges that Combs forced the plaintiff to use ketamine and alcohol while subjecting her to sexual encounters with other people. The unidentified plaintiff also claims that Combs impregnated her. His co-workers urged her to have an abortion, but she ultimately suffered a miscarriage.

The allegations come just days after Thalia Graves claimed she was raped by Combs and a bodyguard in 2001 – with footage of the incident being sold over the years. Nearly a dozen other people have come forward with similar claims since his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura publicly accused Diddy of similar misconduct in November 2020.

What is the federal case against Combs?
Combs is accused in an indictment of using his “power and prestige” to entice female victims and male sex workers to participate in drugged, elaborately staged sexual performances known as “freak offs.” he took part and which he often recorded on video. The events sometimes lasted days, and Combs and victims often received intravenous fluids to recover.

The indictment also alleges that the musician, using a network of associates and employees, coerced and abused women for years, using blackmail and violence such as kidnapping, arson and physical beatings to deter victims from speaking out.

What’s next?
Combs has denied most of the claims and has pleaded not guilty in the Justice Department case. There is also the possibility of further charges, as a male sex worker’s testimony regarding Combs’ alleged activities recently came to light. Houston attorney Tony Buzbee has revealed that his firm is now leading the effort to resolve over fifty people who have reportedly suffered sexual abuse at the hands of Combs – suggesting more lawsuits could be filed.
