Officers respond to shots fired in Janesville

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) – Officers responded to the 1300 block of Hamilton Ave. early Sunday morning. for reports of shots fired.

Several callers reported that two men were arguing when one of them started shooting.

Before police arrived on scene, the armed man ran into the woods. They eventually found him in a nearby wooded area. He was cooperative with officers and was taken into custody. Shortly afterwards, the firearm was seized by officers.

The 27-year-old Illinois man was arrested and is being held in the Rock County Jail.

JPD said this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
