Man murders friend in East Quogue home, body found in backyard: PD

EAST QUOGUE, N.Y. — A man was arrested Saturday night after he murdered his friend at an East Quogue home and left the body in the backyard, police said.

The East Quogue community in Oakville Estates was shrouded in fear Saturday as police reported a “suspicious death” and homicide detectives spent hours on scene investigating.

According to Suffolk County police, Southampton Town Police responded to 9 Oakville Avenue at 9:52 a.m. Saturday after a man called 911 to report that a man had been found dead in the backyard of the residence.

Christopher Hahn, 43, of 150 W. Tiana Road in Hampton Bays, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The cause of death will be determined by an autopsy conducted by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office, officials said.

Following an investigation by Suffolk County Police homicide detectives, Jeremy Allen, the sole resident of 9 Oakville Avenue, was arrested at 120 Old Riverhead Road in Hampton Bays at 10:40 p.m. Saturday evening, police said.

Hahn was a friend of Allen’s and was a guest at his home at the time of the murder, police said.

Allen, 43, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and tampering with evidence, police said.

He was held overnight at the Southampton Town Police Department and was scheduled to be arraigned in Southampton Town Justice Court on Sunday, police said.
