Firefighters responded to reports that an ox was stuck in a hole in the ground

Firefighters were alerted to reports of an ox stuck in a hole in the ground.

Carlisle East Fire Department said it was called at 10am and immediately went to the scene near Nenthead along with firefighters from Lazonby

The young ox named Cinnamon was found at the bottom of a hole in the ground, “stuck.”

A spokesman for Carlisle East Fire Station said: “Emergency crews worked with the farmer and facility operators to dig up the animal and bring it to safety using our specialist Cinnamon animal rescue equipment – thankfully injury-free.”
