Police arrest two more suspects for illegal car meetup in Philly – NBC10 Philadelphia

According to a spokesperson for the Philadelphia Police Department, two additional people were taken into custody in connection with last weekend’s illegal car meetings.

Police said officers responded to multiple locations in the city of Philadelphia during the overnight hours of Saturday, Sept. 21, through Sunday, Sept. 22.

Alexis Boyce, 20, of Englishtown, New Jersey, turned herself in to Philadelphia police around 11:15 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, officials said. She has since been charged with causing a catastrophe, fleeing police, criminal mischief and other related charges.

Boyce’s Dodge Challenger was found by officers and is being held at the Marlboro Township Police Department, officials said.

A second suspect, 18-year-old Albert Woynar of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was arrested by state troopers on Friday, Sept. 27, police said. He was then taken by law enforcement to Philadelphia, where he was charged with aggravated assault, rioting, fleeing police, simple assault and other related charges.

Man tried to run over officers

Members of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office and other law enforcement agencies announced charges against a man who officials allege tried to run over two police officers during last Saturday night’s dangerous drive-by encounter in the city’s northeast.

According to Philadelphia Assistant District Attorney William Sandman, police have charged 25-year-old Deonte Vincent of Philadelphia with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and other offenses after he allegedly attempted to use his vehicle to attack two police officers before striking another Car hit a meeting on Saturday.

Sandman said the incident occurred around 10 p.m. Saturday during a car meet on the 7400 block of Bustleton Ave. occurred involving around 50 cars.

When officers arrived to break up that meeting, Vincent drove his vehicle, a Dodge Charger, directly toward two officers before striking another vehicle that was attending the event, Sandman said. After that, Sandman said, Vincent drove off.

However, police were able to identify his vehicle and obtain a warrant for his arrest, Sandman said.

Vincent is in police custody and is being held on $1.3 million bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 11, 2024.

A night full of chaos

Following the Bustleton Avenue incident, at least six other illegal car meets occurred across Philadelphia between the night of Sept. 21 and the morning of Sunday, Sept. 22, according to police.

According to reports, over 100 vehicles were driving recklessly at 20th Street and Pattison Avenue at 11:47 p.m.

At midnight, a police officer spotted a silver Nissan eating donuts in the middle of the street in the area of ​​Columbus Boulevard and Pattison Avenue. The Nissan then turned 180 degrees toward the officer’s vehicle, investigators said.

The officer maneuvered out of the way and followed the vehicle. He then saw the Nissan come to a stop at 300 Pattison Avenue after hitting a pole, police said. According to investigators, the officer approached the Nissan and four people fled the vehicle.

The driver of the Nissan, 19-year-old Jhonny Martinez of Upper Darby, was later arrested and charged with recklessly endangering another person.

At 1:30 a.m., police responded to the area at 25th Street and Washington Avenue for a report of shots fired. They were then met by a woman who said several cars were in the area when she was attacked by a woman and a man who threw a traffic cone at her, causing her to fall to the ground. A shot was heard from the direction of the cars on the street, the police said. All vehicles in the area then fled and a spent cartridge case and a live cartridge were recovered and processed. No arrests were made in the incident.

At 2:25 a.m., a large group of cars and people gathered in the area of ​​Marvine Street and Grange Avenue. Investigators said the crowd behaved recklessly and disorderly and at one point surrounded the officers. More police responded and the crowd later dispersed. No injuries, arrests or property damage were reported.

At 4 a.m., more than 200 cars were involved in drag racing and drift racing on Island and Bartram avenues, police said. According to investigators, officers were attacked and a police vehicle was damaged. The crowd then dispersed as more police arrived. There were no arrests.

Finally, at 4:33 a.m., more than 100 cars were spotted near City Hall on 15th and Market Streets. Police said the cars drove away and people in the area started trash fires. Responding officers were attacked and several police vehicles were damaged with broken windshields and flat tires, police said. There were no arrests.
