The election section: important dates

In 2024, there will be 14 consecutive days of early voting before Election Day on November 5th. In this report you will find the most important dates and information for registration, absentee voting, as well as the days, times and locations where ballots are cast.

From this date you can apply for a postal vote online here. You can also download the application from the city clerk. Complete the form and return it to the city clerk. A ballot will be sent to you by mail. November 4th is the last day to request an absentee ballot. Eligibility information is provided below.

You can return your completed ballot by mail, in person to the city clerk, or in the mailbox at city hall. To be counted, mail-in ballots must be received by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 5th.

Online voter registration must be completed by 11:59 p.m. Registration by mail must be postmarked by this date. This is also the last day you can register in person at the DMV until close of business.

If you are not already registered (which can be verified here), you can register in person the same day on early voting days at City Hall (while polls are open) and until polls close on Election Day (November 5). Weston Middle School. Please see below for registration eligibility information.

14 consecutive days of early voting begin October 21st and end November 3rd. In Weston, early voting will be held at City Hall from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the exception of October 29 and 31, when it will be 8 p.m.: 12 a.m. to 8 p.m.

On November 3, polls will be open for the final day of early voting at Weston Town Hall from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This is the last day to request an absentee ballot.

In Weston, in-person voting on Election Day will take place at the back entrance of Weston Middle School. Polling stations are open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ID requirements can be found below.

To register to vote in Weston, you must:

  • A US citizen.
  • A resident of Weston.
  • At least 18 years of age on or before Election Day (November 5).
  • Not convicted of an unlawful crime, or if so, meet Connecticut’s eligibility requirements.

Eligibility to vote by post

Under current Connecticut law, you may only receive an absentee ballot if you are unable to appear in person on Election Day due to one of the following circumstances:

  • Active military service.
  • Absence from the city where you are eligible to vote.
  • Illness.
  • Religious principles prohibiting secular activities on election day.
  • Duties as a poll worker at a polling station other than your own throughout the voting period.
  • Physical disability.

ID

When you register at the polls, you will be asked for ID. This can be a government-issued ID, another ID with your name and photo, or a document (e.g. a utility bill, a check) that has your name and address on it. Otherwise, you will be asked to sign an affidavit. Registrars can help you.
