Arne Slot reports on Andy Robertson’s injury, at the latest after a new fitness scare in Liverpool

Arne Slot has played down Andy Robertson’s injury concerns after the Liverpool defender was substituted in the closing stages of Saturday’s 2-1 win over Wolves. Rayan Ait-Nouri canceled out Ibrahima Konate’s first-half header at Molineux before a Mohamed Salah penalty, awarded after Diogo Jota was tackled to the ground, put the visitors back in front around the hour mark.

The win was enough to take Liverpool top of the Premier League but there were some concerns about Robertson’s condition after he was injured in a challenge with lively substitute Carlos Forbs and was replaced late on by Joe Gomez.

However, Slot doesn’t expect to receive bad news about his starting defender’s situation. He expects the Scotland captain to report for duty at the AXA training center on Monday as usual.

“I don’t expect it to be a big problem, although you never know,” Slot said. “I think he just got hit towards the end of the game, maybe he was a bit tired.”

“The guy who came in, Forbs, I knew him from Dutch competitions, he made it a real fight for him too. He took a little hit but I expect him to be back in training on Monday, but let’s wait.” .

“The first 15 minutes were difficult for us. Wolves had a week to prepare and when you have a very good manager like Gary O’Neil, who is really strong tactically and comes up with a really good game plan, he did that.”

Slot added: “We were prepared for it, but you have to wait and see what exactly he does. He overloaded our right side well, which made it difficult for us to control the game in the first 15 to 20 minutes.”

“As things calmed down a bit, the energy (from Wolves) died down and I think we got more and more control of the game. For me it wasn’t a surprise when we scored the goal because in those moments it was us. We were getting better and better and had a great chance with Dominik Szoboszlai.
