Toxic work culture remains a topic of ongoing discussion. In recent days there have been rumors on social media about hectic working conditions and harsh working conditions.
It all started with EY Employees Anna Sebastian’s death. Then there was one workHe died within 20 minutes of reporting to work after being denied medical leave.
Layoffs were also part of the conversation. A post on Reddit’s antiwork community details how a company fired a 10-year-old cancer survivor for taking time off work for surgery, also in less than 15 minutes.

Recently, a man who is his family’s sole income earner revealed on the same subreddit that it was him fired among other things, for refusing to work an additional 20 hours per week, all without even a raise.

“Dismissed again. This time it was because I set limits for myself,” he said.

“My boss tried to get me involved in another project and wanted to use 50% of my time for it. When I told him I needed to meet to figure out how to fit 20 hours of work into my already busy schedule, he tried to tell me that another employee would be able to manage projects like this.”

According to the post, the employee in question goes out of her way to please her boss, even if that means attending meetings until 2 a.m. She also earns about three times as much as her fired colleague Salary.

He made it clear to his boss that he didn’t want to end up like her.

“After he disagreed a few days later, he called me and when I saw the HR guy, I knew it was over,” he recalls. “It felt particularly greedy because [the] The team I lead achieved record sales this year, and a large part of that was due to the changes I made.”

On the bright side, he has no regrets about losing his job. Instead, he hopes to find a better job that doesn’t require him to work more than 40 hours for a company.

The former employee added that his experience at his previous employer wasn’t much different, which resulted in him being fired after six years of “exceeding expectations.”
