A confrontation turned deadly when a stabbing broke out in Beverly Hills on Saturday.

According to Beverly Hills police, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Spalding Drive around 2:50 p.m. after receiving calls reporting disturbances in the area.

“Upon arrival, officers discovered a male subject suffering from a stab wound,” the statement said. “The male subject was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.”

The man could not be identified as the investigation continued.

“The initial investigation indicates that a confrontation occurred between two male subjects,” BHPD investigators said. They also determined that the other person involved in the incident cooperated with their investigation.

Some witnesses and people living in the area say the confrontation may be related to a kidnapping or dognapping attempt, but police have not confirmed this information.

SkyCal flew over the scene, where a black mini-SUV was stopped on the curb in front of what looked like an apartment complex. The area was cordoned off with police tape while numerous officers conducted their investigation.

Police said the area will be closed for several hours as the investigation into the matter continues. They do not believe there is a threat to public safety.

Anyone who knows more is asked to contact BHPD.
