School bus aide charged with alleged sexual assault of students with disabilities in Spotsylvania

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Virginia (DC News now) – Officials have arrested and charged a school bus aide for alleged sex crimes against children with disabilitiesaccording to the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office.

The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office Child Victim Unit arrested Miguel Velasquez Velasco, 22, of Fredericksburg, on the evening of September 26 for allegedly attacking three students with disabilities on the school bus that day.

School authorities initially notified criminal investigators after suspicions arose that a student had been inappropriately touched on a school bus.

According to the sheriff’s office, detectives and school administrators immediately began investigating and obtained substantial evidence that Velasquez Velasco had assaulted the three children.

The victim’s age is between 4 and 5 years old.

Two teenagers were shot in a vehicle in Alexandria

Authorities arrested Velasquez Velasco and charged him with one count of aggravated sexual battery of a child, two counts of indecent confinement of a child while in a supervisory role, and one count of attempted sodomy of a child.

He was held without bail at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
