“BJP raises its voice against sexual assault only in states it does not rule”: Mumtaz Patel of Congress

Congress leader Mumtaz Patel launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the alleged sexual assault of two minors in Gujarat, saying the BJP should allow such cases to happen in states that are not ruled by the BJP the first to raise his voice. She added that no one spoke about it when similar cases occurred in Gujarat.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about women’s safety twenty days ago, but if we talk about Gujarat, two major incidents happened recently – in Dahod, where a six-year-old girl was walking home from school. Her principal tried to rape her in the car, but she fought back, after which the principal killed her. A case occurred in Bharuch where a ten-month-old girl was sexually molested by a person who frequently visited the family. When such things happen in other states which are not ruled by the BJP, the BJP is the first to raise its voice, but in Gujarat no one raises their voice against such incidents. Why this discrimination just because you have a government here in Gujarat? In Kolkata, they (BJP) conducted candle marches,” said Congress leader Mumtaz Patel.
Notably, Gujarat police on Sunday arrested the principal of a government primary school in Dahod district for allegedly killing a six-year-old. The victim was killed by suffocation while resisting the alleged sexual assault by the 50-year-old school principal.
In another case, a 10-month-old girl was allegedly sexually molested by a 30-year-old man, who was later arrested for it. The accused was a frequent visitor to the victim’s house.
On August 9, a trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar room of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
The Anti-Corruption Branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Sandip Ghosh on September 2.
Ghosh was under investigation for alleged corruption and financial irregularities at the college and hospital after a single bench of the Calcutta High Court directed the CBI to probe the matter
