Blotter: Police stop golf cart on Main Road.

• Between Oct. 7 and Oct. 11, Southold Town police received reports of the theft of nine political signs from residences between Mattituck and East Marion. There was no surveillance footage in any of the cases, but the homeowners wanted to document the incidents, according to police.

• On Oct. 10, a Mattituck homeowner called police to document what she described as a “gun turret” in her neighbor’s backyard, authorities said. A responding officer “observed an approximately 15-foot-tall platform with a ladder attached to it in the backyard,” but did not appear to have taken any further action.

• On Oct. 11, a resident of Soundview Avenue in Southold reported finding his mailbox severely damaged.

• On Oct. 11, Noe Pachecho, 38, no known address, was arrested at the Mattituck 7-Eleven store. The night manager contacted the police and attempted to file a report. He said Mr Pacheco had previously been informed that he was not allowed on the property. Mr. Pacheco was arrested for the alleged crime.

• At approximately 5 p.m. on Oct. 12, a Southold police sergeant, while on routine patrol, observed a golf cart traveling eastbound on Main Road near Bay Avenue in Mattituck and conducted a traffic stop. According to police, the male driver, a 39-year-old from Miller Place, had alcohol on his breath. However, the man “performed well” on field sobriety tests. The driver and his passenger were released with a verbal warning to walk home, and police seized the unregistered golf cart.

• On Oct. 12, a Southold woman reported a drone hovering over her home and said she was concerned for her child’s safety and privacy. A responding officer interviewed the drone pilot, who was conducting a real estate photo shoot at a nearby property. The pilot said he did not fly over the woman’s house. While the responding officer questioned the drone pilot, the woman located the drone across the street in a field, retrieved it and turned it over to police. The drone pilot said the woman must have trespassed to get the drone back where he landed it. Police returned the drone to its owner without further incident.

• On Oct. 13, police received a 911 call about a vehicle failing to maintain its lane on Sound Avenue in Mattituck. According to police, a responding officer observed the driver pull the car to the side of the road, exit the vehicle and urinate. According to police, 34-year-old Juan Dosal Freyre of Pflugerville, Texas, admitted to drinking “five or six beers” after performing poorly on field sobriety tests. He was arrested and charged with drunk driving.

The people named in the police reports have not been convicted of a crime or violation. The charges against them could later be reduced or withdrawn, or they could be found innocent.
