Who is Kim Tae-ri, the popular Korean actress in Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born and Revenant?

Kim Tae-ri is back on screens this fall with her fourth K-drama series, the historical musical drama Jeongnyeon: The star is born. Now comfortably entrenched on Korea’s A-list, she was a complete unknown less than a decade ago.

Kim previously made her film debut in the 43-minute film Moon youngin which she played the lead role. The film was shot in 2013 and premiered at the Seoul Independent Film Festival in 2015. An extended version of the film was released in theaters in 2017 and capitalized on Kim’s fame following the success of The Maid.

Kim is from Seoul and was born in 1990. After graduating from Youngshin Nursing Business High School, she attended Kyung Hee University, where she studied journalism and communications. It was there that her interest in acting was sparked when she joined a drama club in her second year.

After studying, Kim joined a troupe in Seoul’s Daehak-ro theater district and spent several years gaining experience on stage and in short films.
