Storm Reid will be honored for Best Guest Actress in a Drama at the 2023 Emmys

Storm Reid won a big win at the 2023 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday, January 6, taking home the award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.

“I really can’t put into words how I feel… more words and more pictures tomorrow. THANK YOU,” Reid, 20, wrote via Instagram.

She later posted videos of her car ride after the ceremony. “This is proof that we are staying the course,” Reid said while holding her Emmy. “Don’t take no for an answer. Do what you want to do. I don’t care what nobody says. Stay in your own lane. Create your own track. Do what makes you happy.”

This is Reid’s first Emmy win and his first nomination.

There were six nominees in this category, although only two shows were represented. Hiam Abbass, Cherry Jones And Harriet Walter were nominated for their guest roles Consequencewhile Melanie Lynskey, Anna Torv and Reid were recognized for their work The Last of Us. Both dramas will air on HBO Consequence ends its four-season run in May 2023 and The Last of Us Debut in January 2023.

Some of the actresses in this category were nominated for more than one Emmy this year. Lynskey, 46, was also nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama Series Yellowjacketsand Walter, 73, received a nomination for Guest Actress in a Comedy Series Ted Lasso.

Lynskey received her first Emmy nomination back in 2022, and although she caused excitement during awards season, she decided to sleep through the announcement at the time.

“I was so nervous. I honestly couldn’t stand it. So [husband] Jason [Ritter] “I got up with our daughter and slept through the night,” she told Deadline in July 2022. “I just couldn’t be awake. I decided it would be nice to either wake up [because] I got a lot from it [phone messages] or just wake up slowly. …So I woke up [because] I got a lot from it [phone messages]. So that was a nice way to wake up.”

Although Lynskey has been in the industry since the early ’90s, she joked about her recent rise in fame. “Ten years ago I was nominated for a Gotham Award as a breakthrough artist. And even back then, a decade ago, people said, ‘It’s been around forever!'” she said. “I think it’s especially fun now, but it feels different. I’ve been very fortunate to be a working actor and be able to make a living and do work that I’m really proud of. This level of recognition is very, very new to me. It feels very nice.”

The 75th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were originally scheduled to air in September 2023, but the ceremony was postponed due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes, which ultimately ended in September and November, respectively. The Emmy nominations were announced in July 2023, less than 48 hours before SAG-AFTRA began its walkout.
