Chatham-Kent doctor faces sex offense charges, college says

A Chatham-Kent doctor faces multiple charges of sexual assault and sexual impropriety with a minor, according to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).

Robert Nathanial Wismer has been charged with the following crimes, according to the CPSO website:

  • Three counts of sexual assault
  • Three counts of sexual harassment of persons under 16 years of age
  • Three counts of solicitation of sexual touching of persons under 16 years of age

The incidents occurred between August 29 and October 12, 2024, according to the CPSO website.

Wismer was arraigned on Oct. 14 and released from custody on the following conditions, the CPSO said:

  1. Wismer may not contact or communicate with any named person in any way, directly or indirectly, whether physically, electronically or otherwise.
  2. Wismer cannot be more than 10 meters from a place where he knows named people live, work or go to school.
  3. Wismer shall not attend any public park or public bathing area where persons under the age of 16 are or may reasonably be expected to be present, or any day care center, school grounds, playground or community center, unless accompanied by another adult who is aware of these fees.
  4. Wismer is not permitted to be alone with any child under the age of 16 (other than his biological children), except with another adult who is aware of these allegations.
  5. Wismer is not allowed to possess any weapon(s) within the meaning of the Criminal Code.

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance issued a statement Friday afternoon in response to the allegations.

“Dr. Wismer is not currently providing services at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance,” it said.
