Lizzo will perform at Kamala Harris’ rally in Detroit

Kamala Harris will appear at a rally on Saturday alongside a singer accused of sexually harassing her dancers.

Grammy-winning artist Lizzo will accompany the vice president at a campaign stop in Detroit after urging her supporters to “please vote” earlier this week.

The last time the 36-year-old singer performed at a Democratic event was in March, when she headlined a fundraiser for Joe Biden.

Her performance was met with backlash: Ron Zambrano, the lawyer for three of her accusers, called it “shameful” that she was chosen to headline the event after a series of damning allegations of professional misconduct were made against her.

Following the event, Lizzo announced that she was “quitting” music because she was tired of the “lies” being spread about her.

Lawsuit filed against Lizzo

Three former members of Lizzo’s dance group filed a lawsuit against the singer in August last year, accusing her of sexual harassment and weight shaming.

The lawsuit filed by Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez accused the singer of forcing one of the dancers to touch the breast of another naked performer while attending a sexually themed show in Amsterdam.

Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, was also said to have called out Ms. Davis about gaining weight, accusing the dancer of not feeling committed to her role.

In the days since, the Good as Hell singer responded to the “sensational stories” on social media and accused her former backup dancers of “inappropriate and unprofessional” behavior.

In February, a judge denied Lizzo’s request to dismiss the lawsuit and ruled that the case would proceed with some allegations dismissed.

She appealed the decision the following month, with the case expected to be put on hold for several months.

The Detroit-born singer earlier this week encouraged attendees at the Fortune Most Power Women Summit to vote Democratic, saying, “There are so many important issues on the ballot this year.”
