Charlotte vs. Navy prediction, betting odds and how to watch

Navy is ranked in the Associated Press top 25 for good reason.

The Midshipmen are 5-0 overall and 3-0 in AAC play, with their previous mark being a 56-44 victory over Memphis. Navy has the second-best rushing offense in the country with 295.6 yards per game on the ground.

But next they have to take on Charlotte. The 49ers are 3-3 overall, but have won three of their last four games, most recently defeating East Carolina 55-24. They’ve only lost to Power Four teams Indiana and North Carolina, as well as James Madison, which is currently one of the best Group of Five programs in the country.

The Navy must be ready.

Charlotte vs Navy Prediction

I expect Navy to win and cover the spread at -16.5. I also expect the game to score less than 56.5 total points.

I like how Charlotte is playing right now. The 49ers are showing significant improvement over last year and have a good chance of reaching a bowl game by the end of the season.

But I don’t think this is a good match for her. Charlotte is one of the worst teams in the country when it comes to rushing defense, allowing 182 yards per game on the ground.

And the Navy, as expected, has a great attack force. Led by quarterback Blake Horvath, who ranks 29th in the FBS with 565 rushing yards and is in the top 10 with 10 rushing touchdowns, the Midshipmen have five players who have rushed for at least 150 yards this year. Navy was also efficient as all five of those players averaged at least 5.4 yards per carry.

Navy could end up giving up a few points against Charlotte as the Midshipmen’s defense was inconsistent. But I think they will control this battle on the ground and win by three touchdowns.
