Man charged in 2017 shooting involving two Chicago police officers

A 25-year-old man has been charged in connection with the 2017 shooting involving two Chicago police officers.

According to Chicago police, the suspect was arrested Thursday in the 4700 block of South Throop Street on two felony counts of attempted first-degree murder.

The charges stem from an incident on May 2, 2017, in which the man – then a juvenile – fired a gun at officers in the 1500 block of West 43rd Street. The suspect “fired a firearm, striking a Chicago police officer and injuring another Chicago police officer,” according to a CPD news release.

It is unclear whether both officers were hit by the gunfire.

The man is scheduled to appear in court for a detention hearing on Saturday.

Further information was not initially available.
