Woman charged in December 2023 fatal crash in St. Louis County

CLAYTON, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A woman was arrested on a felony warrant Thursday after authorities said she was driving at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour in a fatal crash in December 2023 in St. Louis County.

St. Louis County prosecutors have charged 34-year-old Otiseia McMorris with first-degree manslaughter, second-degree assault and driving without insurance in the crash that killed Marian Harris-Dukes.

McMorris is being held in the St. Louis County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.

The accident occurred on December 13 at the intersection of US Highway 67 and Jamestown Bay Drive. Police said McMorris was driving the victim’s vehicle at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour just seconds before colliding. Harris-Dukes was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Harris-Duke’s 7-year-old grandson was in the vehicle and was injured. The victim’s vehicle crashed into another car, injuring another driver, who was also taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police said McMorris falsely told officers she was only driving 45 miles per hour at the time of the crash. She was not insured at the time and was also charged for driving without insurance.

Several surveillance cameras nearby recorded the accident, police said.
