Vernon RCMP investigating stabbing | News

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is investigating a stabbing that occurred late Thursday night in Vernon.

On Thursday, October 17, at approximately 9:40 p.m., police received a report of a fight in the parking lot of a business in the 2800 block of 35th Avenue in Vernon. When they arrived, frontline officers learned from witnesses that a man had been stabbed in the parking lot.

Before police arrived, the victim was taken to hospital where his condition remains stable. The subsequent investigation led to police locating two separate units in the building, both of which were secured pending search warrants being obtained and executed.

“We are still in the very early stages of the investigation and are working to determine the circumstances that led to the incident,” said Cst. Chris Terleski, media relations officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP. “Police will continue to maintain a presence on site and in the surrounding area as officers continue their inquiries.”
