Liam Payne’s letter to his 10-year-old self resurfaces

A resurfaced letter that Liam Payne once wrote to his younger self is making headlines after the singer, who rose to fame as a founding member of boy band One Direction, died on Wednesday at the age of 31 after falling from the third floor of a hotel fell in Buenos Aires. Argentina.

The singer told his younger self in the letter that he “would like to give up,” but that he would meet “four other boys” and “live a life that was hard to imagine” after forming his band and the had traveled the world. He also urged him to enjoy it and “stay young at heart” despite the “chaos” of fame.

“Then it will be over for a while and you will have no choice but the steering wheel,” Payne continued. “It will feel scary, like you are alone, but you are not. You’re about to start a whole new journey with the greatest person you’ve ever met, your son Bear.”

Payne shared seven-year-old Bear with his ex-partner, singer Cheryl Cole.

“Don’t doubt this father thing,” the singer wrote in his letter. “Just look at all the things you have learned along the way and that certainly means you have a lot to give. Be grateful and try to remind yourself every day that you are doing something you love that took 10 years to build.”

He advised 10-year-old Liam to “stop doubting himself” and promised he would be “fine.”

“Give mom, dad and the whole family a big hug,” he concluded.

Payne’s grieving former bandmates released a statement on Thursday saying they were “completely devastated” by his death, which shocked the music community and led to immense sadness from fans around the world.
