Marc Anthony supports Kamala Harris over Donald Trump in the 2024 election

Marc Anthony is supporting Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election.

In an ad titled “Recuerdo,” the singer-songwriter noted that while some people may have forgotten what it was like for Latinos in the United States during Donald Trump’s first term, he didn’t.

“I remember what he did and said about Puerto Rico, about our people,” Anthony continued in the spot. “I remember Trump blocking billions in aid after Hurricane Maria devastated our island while thousands died. I remember when our families lacked clean water and electricity, Trump threw away paper towels and called Puerto Rico ‘dirty and poor.’

The artist explained that he wasn’t surprised at the time when Trump did all of these things because he remembered how the former president began his campaign by calling Latino people “criminals” and “rapists.”

“He told us what he was going to do. He will separate children from their families and threaten to use the army to do it,” Anthony continued. “This election goes far beyond political parties. Let us remember what the United States represents and stands for: UNITED, regardless of where we come from. I’m Marc Anthony and I remember. That’s why I support Kamala Harris for president.”

The ad is part of the Harris campaign’s investment in TV and digital reservations leading up to Election Day on November 5th. It will air nationally on Telemundo and WAPA America TV during Sunday’s 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards and in Pennsylvania on Telemundo and Univision. The aim is to target events and programs with high viewership, such as popular Telenevolas and a variety of other shows.

Anthony’s support for Harris follows several other celebrities who have expressed their support for the vice president, including Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, George Clooney, Jamie Lee Curtis, Megan Thee Stallion, Charli XCX and Billie Eilish, as well as brother Finneas, among others.
