Springfield man found guilty of rape and indecent assault

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – A man was found guilty in a child sexual assault case in 2021.

Hamid Hallums, 59, of Springfield, was found guilty in court last Friday of two counts of rape and four counts of assault on a girl over 14 years old.

The case dates back to May 2021, when the victim reported a sexual assault to Springfield police and charges were filed against the defendant.

“This conviction represents a critical step toward justice for the victim and her family, who have shown remarkable strength throughout this trial,” Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni said in a statement.

Hallums will be sentenced Monday in Hampden Superior Court.
