Prosecutor Gascón is charging a South Bay man with drugging and sexually abusing nine women

On Friday, Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón announced the indictment of Michael DiGiorgio, a man accused of drugging and sexually abusing women at two of his South Bay homes from 2019 to 2021. One of the incidents is even believed to have resulted in death, officials said.

Investigators said the women were victims of DiGiorgio, 50, between May 2019 and November 2021 at his residences in Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach. One of the nine victims allegedly died after being drugged.

DiGiorgio was accused of:

  • One count of murder
  • Three counts of rape caused by drug use
  • Two felony counts of sodomy while using drugs
  • Five felony counts of sexual penetration by drug use
  • A criminal offense: oral copulation while taking drugs
  • A felony count of forcible rape
  • Two felony counts of forcible sexual penetration
  • A felony count of rape of an unconscious person
  • Two felony counts of use of a controlled substance

Authorities allege the delivery of a controlled substance caused serious bodily injury.

“I extend my deepest condolences to the victims whose lives were irrevocably changed and whose lives were lost by the perpetrator’s alleged brutal actions,” Gascón said in a released statement. “Our office is committed to holding him accountable for the pain and trauma he has caused. The safety and well-being of our community is our top priority and we will not tolerate this type of predatory behavior in our communities.”

Investigators also believe there are other victims.

If convicted, DiGiorgio faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.
