A Poughkeepsie man has been arrested on attempted murder charges in a stabbing, according to police

The attack occurred in Dutchess County at 1 a.m. Sunday, June 30, in the area of ​​Smith Street and Mansion Street in Poughkeepsie.

According to Poughkeepsie Police, on Thursday, October 17, members of the Neighborhood Recovery Unit, Detective Bureau and Patrol Division located and arrested 27-year-old Rushaan Francis of Poughkeepsie in connection with the June 30 stabbing.

Police said the 44-year-old victim suffered multiple stab wounds. The City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department and Empress EMS treated the victim, who was transported to an area hospital where he underwent surgery.

After an investigation, Francis was charged with attempted murder and assault. He was arrested at police headquarters and held pending arraignment.
