Dispute at Walmart over child custody

A disagreement over a custody agreement escalated into a physical altercation in the Walmart parking lot earlier this month, leading to the arrest of two people involved in the fight.

According to a report released this week by the sheriff’s office, a Chattooga County sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the scene after reports of an argument breaking out between two men named Landon Daniel and Deoveon Price. While en route, the officer learned that Deoveon had left the scene and was subsequently stopped by officers from the Summerville Police Department. Upon arriving at Walmart, Deputy Kinnamont spoke with Landon Daniel and his mother, Dana Daniel, who provided insight into the events leading up to the fight.

According to Dana, tensions between Landon and Deoveon had increased due to ongoing issues with Shay Shadrick, the mother of Landon’s child. Earlier that day, Landon had dropped the child off at Deoveon, where Shay was staying, which led to a verbal confrontation between the two men. After the argument, Landon left the apartment, but was followed by Deoveon to the Walmart parking lot, where a physical altercation ensued. Landon confirmed to Deputy Kinnamont that his mother’s account of the incident was accurate and admitted that he and Deoveon had argued in the parking lot.

Officials with the Summerville Police Department confirmed this and said Deoveon also acknowledged the fight. Deputy Kinnamont reviewed surveillance camera footage from Walmart which confirmed that Deoveon arrived shortly after Landon and approached him in the parking lot. The footage captured the moment Landon lashed out at Deoveon, who retaliated by shoving him and swinging him back.

Following the investigation, Deputy Kinnamont contacted Summerville Police officers and requested that Deoveon be transported to jail. Both men were subsequently arrested for public affray and taken to the Chattooga County Jail.
