Police arrest Lázaro Cárdenas after chase

Lázaro Cárdenas, QR – Local authorities made an arrest on Thursday following a shootout between wanted criminals. The shooting and subsequent arrest occurred early Thursday afternoon in the town of Kantunilkin.

Two men were involved in a chase and shootout that left one gunman dead. Police, armed with an arrest warrant, closed the road to Chiquilá while they searched for the man they were looking for in connection with a recent kidnapping.

During the police chase, the vehicle driven by the armed men overturned on a stretch of highway. The perpetrator who was shot was taken to the hospital, but later died there. The second shooter involved, Lorenzo Antonio “N,” was captured.

In a statement, the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) said: “Following an arrest warrant, in the town of Kantunilkín, in the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas, a person was injured by a gunshot wound and, as a result, lost his life.

“The detainee is Lorenzo Antonio “N”, who is accused of his probable involvement in the crime of aggravated kidnapping.

“This social representation makes it clear that the persecution caused by the fulfillment of the court order took place, as a reference, three kilometers from an educational center.” The integrity of those present there was never at risk.

“The Attorney General’s Office reiterates its commitment to bringing to justice those who violate the law.”
