Person destroys campaign signs outside Gaston County Democratic Party headquarters

GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) – Gastonia police are searching for the person accused of vandalizing two political signs and stealing one of them from the Gaston County Democratic Party headquarters early Thursday morning.

According to police reports, the crime occurred just after 12:30 p.m. at 1801 E. Franklin Blvd.

A person in a white SUV, possibly a Honda Pilot, was believed to have vandalized two Harris Walz banners mounted on plywood and tied to garden stakes outside the office. One banner was stolen and the other was left behind, police reports said.

Theft and destruction of political signs are Class 3 misdemeanors under North Carolina law.
