A young mother is killed in a domestic assault in Lexington Park

ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. – A 25-year-old mother was shot and killed during a domestic assault in Lexington Park on Wednesday. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office reported the incident occurred just before 11 a.m. on Oct. 16, prompting officers to respond to a call in the 46000 block of Rosewood Drive.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Alaysia Janell Milburn was suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to the hospital but later died from her injuries. Officials discovered that a seven-month-old baby was also in the home and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

During the investigation, witnesses reported seeing a man fleeing the scene in a Hyundai Kona. Police initiated a search for the suspect and vehicle and ultimately determined he was speeding on Route 5, leading to a chase that continued into Charles County and involved multiple agencies, including Maryland State Police, were involved.
