Pretrial conference scheduled for Taunton mayor’s assault case

(WJAR) — A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday in Taunton Mayor Shaunna O’Connell’s assault case.

The case revolves around an arrest over the summer after her husband called the police during a fight.

She was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, as well as domestic assault and battery.

A lawyer for O’Connell wants the case dismissed.

The mayor previously said she and her husband had been working on marital issues.
